About Me

I'm a Brazilian freelance science writer, who covers the quirky and fascinating biology of animals, molecules and everything in between.

For almost 2 years, I worked as an Assistant Science Editor at The Scientist magazine, writing and editing a variety of story formats (features, news stories, Q&As, and profiles) and covering many topics in the life sciences.

I also have experience in science communication and have been involved in a few SciComm projects in the U.S. and Brazil.

In a past life, I was on academia and worked in the fascinating field of brain research. I spent a couple of years studying the effects of prolonged stress and traumatic brain injury as a postdoctoral researcher, and before that I studied the effects of stress on memory as a graduate student.

When I'm not reading papers or writing, you can find me wandering around the city I live in search of cool places to eat (coffee shops are my favorite spot!), watching movies, or listening to music (big punk rock and heavy metal fan here! Have band tips? Send them over! :] )
